As stated by an individual close to the situation, former Vice President Mike Pence was served a subpoena by the special counsel.
It is looking at significant areas of the probe into the invasion of the U.S. Capitol and ex-President Donald Trump’s involvement.
In addition to overseeing the everyday activities of the inquiry, Jack Smith, the special counsel designated by Attorney General Merrick Garland, is also in charge of a concurrent criminal probe.
This probe is into whether Trump may have handled secret material improperly at his Florida residence.
Based on the source, who insists on remaining anonymous, as they are not permitted to disclose any information publicly, the Pence subpoena relates to January 6. The subpoena is the result of months of discussions involving Pence, as well as the Justice Department.
The subpoena was first announced by ABC News. The special counsel’s spokesperson refused to speak on the subject. Pence’s spokesperson likewise refused to comment.
The action is the most recent sign that the massive investigation is moving along. It makes Pence the highest-ranking member of Trump’s inner circle widely disclosed to be subpoenaed.
Trump started his bid for the Republican presidential candidacy in 2024. Pence is seen as a potential contender. This might set two prospective candidates against one another.

It is unknown if Pence will abide by the subpoena.
His advisors had earlier stated he was not inclined to testify before the congressional panel looking into the assault on the Capitol. As per the insider, Pence has informally expressed his worries about appearing against Trump, due to executive privilege.
Pence is apparently the only eyewitness to any private conversations with Trump. Investigators would feel driven to, at the very least, try to compel him to give an account of what happened under oath.
Smith’s investigation has been getting more serious as a result of the court’s inquiry into Pence.
The Washington Post reported earlier that a grand jury subpoenaed members of the Trump team in December and demanded information concerning Jan. 6, including who was paying for their legal fees.

In regions where President Biden barely won and where Trump and his supporters alleged there had been corruption, local and federal election authorities received subpoenas in late November and early December, according to The Post.
Since they were upset that Pence didn’t utilize his authority to assist change the outcomes of the 2020 election, numerous rioters shouted “Hang Mike Pence!” throughout the assault on the Capitol.
What Has Pence Hidden?
At the time, Trump said Pence didn’t have the fortitude to do what he considered was right.
In “So Help Me God,” his book published late in 2022, and his appearances advertising it, Pence provided a narrative of his version of what transpired and the way he interpreted Trump’s behavior that day. This article appeared in Conservative Cardinal and has been published here with permission.
