In a recent interview, Trump stated he’s going to be suing the CNN network for almost half a billion dollars in damages they’ve done to his campaign and company with their active work against his potential 2024 presidential run.
The lawsuit was filed earlier this week. The former president is demanding over $75k in compensatory damages and $475 million in punitive damages and courtroom costs, with additional demands for a jury trial.
Time for CNN to pay for the fake news
The lawsuit focuses on the fact that CNN, alongside other left-leaning networks, went out of its way to spread misinformation about Trump and his campaign with the sole intent of harming his reputation.

It’s no secret that Trump has been a long-standing critic of the Cable News Network, which started early during his 2016 presidential campaign. It continued throughout his presidency when the network was practically “creating” news about him.
Aside from just highlighting his shortcomings while completely ignoring everything he’s done for this country, CNN also used its massive media influence as a “trusted source of information” to defame Trump in the minds of its viewers.
This media slander continued for years, culminating during the 2020 presidential election when CNN took credit for “getting Trump out” of the run for president.

Other anti-Trump media outlets are next
Another thing the lawsuit touches on is CNN’s constant comparison of Donald Trump with Nazi leader and war criminal Adolf Hitler. This is a clear demonstration that all of the defamation they’d committed was published with actual malice.
This type of malicious reporting led to the growth of an anti-Trump narrative and caused their readers and viewers to associate an otherwise successful businessman and president with the lowest of the low, supporting the growing number of campaigns against him.
In the lawsuit, this agenda is treated as evidence of CNN’s intent to propagate its political views rather than reporting the truth. Truth is what companies like this should actually stand for.

Additionally, the lawsuit takes issue with CNN’s claims that Trump lied about the results of the 2020 election. However, records show he was merely of the opinion the results were due to fraudulent voting activity in key states.
By not taking a neutral stance and acknowledging Trump COULD be correct in his beliefs, CNN actively disregarded the truth. It branded the former president a “liar” with no conclusive evidence to support that claim.
Trump also added he will be commencing an action against all other media outlets that defamed him throughout his presidency and 2020 presidential campaign.
As of the time of writing, CNN has yet to issue a public statement in response to the lawsuit; although we can expect that it won’t be a constructive one.
