After an apparent losing streak in Georgia, with two of his candidates failing in the congressional runoffs on Tuesday, former President Trump’s endorsee, Katie Britt, managed to snag a win in Alabama, securing her GOP Senate nomination.
Attorney Jake Evans lost to ER physician Rich McCormick only a night after Trump declared him to be a “true MAGA warrior,“ whereas Democrat turncoat Vernon Jones lost to truck transport company owner Mike Collins.
The former president’s return to power
However, as it turns out, although Jones lost the runoff, dropping Perdue was the right move. The former senator lost to Republican Governor Brian Kemp, who actually endorsed Collins as well.
In spite of these Tuesday losses, Trump still managed to grab hold of the winner’s table in Alabama. Katie Britt, an attorney and businesswoman he’d endorsed, defeated Representative Mo Brooks for the Senate nomination.

Interestingly enough, there are constant talks about Republicans rooting against Trump; yet, Brooks’ poll numbers started to dip only when Trump withdrew his endorsement for Brooks as a Senate nominee.
As for the McCormick/Evans runoff, it was triggered by neither of the two having enough votes to pass the 50% threshold. McCormick, an ER physician and former military pilot, celebrated his victory at his campaign headquarters.
In fact, McCormick already ran for Congress in 2020, ultimately losing the bid for Georgia’s 7th Congressional District to Democrat candidate Carolyn Bourdeaux.

McCormick’s endorsement came from Texas Senator Ted Cruz, as well as a handful of the state’s congressional members, including Jody Hice, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Buddy Carter.

The runoff between the two candidates was a tight back and forth, focusing on their Republican ideals. This essentially boiled down to both candidates alluding to the other not being conservative enough.
Evans had Trump’s backing throughout his campaign, with the former president even holding a tele-rally the night before, claiming Evans to be a “MAGA warrior” with capabilities to do an incredible job if he’s elected to office.
Evans himself appeared at the rally, adding that Trump’s endorsement catapulted his campaign into overdrive. Evans said he, unlike McCormick, is willing to fight for the people of Georgia, no matter what it takes.

Vernon Jones’ loss was far more anticlimactic. He lost by a landslide to trucking company owner Mike Collins, the son of former Congressman Mac Collins.
At the time, analysts believe Collins will have a smooth ride to victory in the November election, primarily due to the 10th district’s tendency to elect Republicans.
At the end of the day, what matters is the GOP retained its lead on the Democrats and polls are still in favor of the Republicans. At this pace, the left is bound to lose a large portion of its power by the end of the midterms.
